Walk to Defeat ALS

CARE MEDICAL & REHABILITATION EQUIPMENT IS A
PROUD SPONSOR OF THE ALS ASSOCIATION!

Walk to Defeat ALS

The Walk to Defeat ALS™ is The ALS Association’s national signature fundraising event. Each year, over 150,000 people including people living with ALS, their families, their friends and corporate leaders join together to raise funds in support of The Association’s cutting-edge research and community-based patient services programs.

Now in its 11th year, over 150 walks will be held around the country in 2010. Care Medical & Rehabilitation Equipment will have walk teams in 6 of the walk locations. Our teams are committed to raising money to support people with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure.

Please consider joining one of our teams in the Walk to Defeat ALS™ or making a donation to our cause.

Each of our walk teams has made a pledge to raise $2,500 and we need your help to achieve this goal!

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP... Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care people with ALS require. Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.

WHY WE WALK... Care Medical Equipment has been providing home medical equipment to people with ALS and their families throughout Oregon and Washington for over 40 years. This has given us a unique perspective on the devastating effects of ALS and the challenges that people with ALS face in maintaining their independence and mobility.

The ALS Association is the only non-profit organization fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease on every front. By leading the way in global research, providing assistance for people with ALS through a nationwide network of chapters, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, and fostering government partnerships, The Association builds hope and enhances quality of life while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure.
